September 2025
Hey ya’ll,
Here’s the Austin B. Sweeney newsletter coming in hot for the month of September. I put these out once a month to keep you updated on upcoming shows, what I’m listening to, lyric breakdowns, and much more! I hope this newsletter will provide value for you, if for no other reason than it may introduce you to music you haven’t heard before!
Let’s quit wasting time here and jump into it, here’s what I’ve been listening to in the last week:
Song: “Beach Cruiser” - Algorhythm
Album: “Chain Yer Dragon” - Goose
Artist: Goose
New single, “Longhaulers” is available September 5th! New EP due out later this fall.
It’s been a hell of a ride since getting married in late May. We got married 5.25.25 (almost purely for the palindrome) and hit the road at the end of May. Drove to Arizona to stay for a week while we prepared for the country-wide tour/honeymoon (this makes the honeymoon a tax write-off).
We went from Mesa to New Mexico. New Mexico to Texas.
Played a few shows (some excellent, some not-so-great) in Texas.
· Carousel Lounge in Austin. (rough show but met the other touring band, Adam Gabriel & The Cavaliers, who happened to be from Oregon, very talented dudes, worth checking out.)
· Fralo’s in San Antonio. Great show, but since it was outside, I got eaten alive by mosquitoes. Damn Texas mosquitoes.
· Bowman Backyard in San Antonio. Amazing house show. The Bowman’s are tremendous people and can’t wait to be back. Michael Cansler opened the show and it was a great time.
Show in Round Top, TX got cancelled due to bad weather.
Texas to Louisiana. Louisiana to Mobile, AL. Mobile is Jimmy Buffett’s hometown, so it was really cool to check out the town and eat some fried gator.
Alabama to Gainesville, FL. After reaching the Florida state line, we blew out a tire on The Bandwagon (the camper) and snapped a leaf spring. Spent 5 hours on the side of I-10 and finally got the leaf spring repaired and the spare tire on, but we were stuck in Milton, FL for the night as electrical work needed to be done the following day.
So… now the next day we finally go from Milton, FL to Gainesville. Gainesville to Sunshine Key in the Florida Keys. Amazing honeymoon. Played six shows during our two-week stay. Three shows in Key West (Lagerheads and Blue Heaven), two shows in Little Torch Key (Kiki’s), and one show in Key Largo – on the opposite end of The Keys – at Caribbean Club.
Left The Keys to make our trek back to Oregon for the summer. Sunshine Key back to Gainesville, played a show in Gainesville at Satchel’s Music and Pizza. Great crowd. A few even knew my music and requested I play “Jimmy”, which is my tribute song to Jimmy Buffett. The song turned one-year old on Sept 1st and it’s been two years since we lost Jimmy. If you’re ever in Gainesville, hit up Satchel’s and thank me later.
Gainesville to Atlanta, GA. Parked the Bandwagon along a beautiful lake in south Georgia. Georgia through Nashville to Scottsville, KY. Stayed at Laura’s family’s property for a few days. Played a show at NashHouse in Nashville, right off Broadway. I hadn’t been back to Nashville since I lived there in 2015 and it was surreal to not only be back there, but to be there on tour and playing in town – with my wife, no less. Showed Laura all around the town of Hendersonville which is outside of Nashville where I lived. Couldn’t believe I was standing outside my old apartment door on the shores of Old Hickory Lake.
Kentucky to St. Louis, MO where we met up with our good buddy Kent and played a show at Evangeline’s Bistro and Music House. Kent brought folks out and we had ourselves a hell of a night and he gave us a tour of St. Louis. Shoutout to Kent.
St. Louis to Lincoln, NE. Played the final show of the tour at Kinkaider’s in Lincoln. Beautiful town and killer crowd.
Lincoln to Cheyenne, WY. Cheyenne is a rough town, but my good buddy and old fraternity brother, along with his girlfriend, drove his motorcycle up from Loveland, CO to hang for the night. Good friends, rough town.
Cheyenne to Ogden, UT. Easy but long drive – we keep the Bandwagon rolling around 60mph, so the rides are longer than advertised on the GPS.
Ogden through Idaho and into Baker City, OR. Finally back in Oregon! Although we’re on the easternmost end of Oregon. Stayed in a charming little trailer park, did very little that night as we were BURNT from the road.
Baker City back to my hometown of Dayton. Hell of a ride.
Been in Oregon playing shows throughout the Pacific Northwest all summer. Another shoutout goes out to my buddy Matt (another Circus Mexicus friend, like Kent), who hooked me up with a show in Woodinville, WA, just outside of Seattle. He brought a ton of people out to 4 Stitch Brewing, where we had a proper show, almost listening room vibes, which is shocking for a brewery. Amazing crowd and sold a lot of merch.
While being parked on my parents property, my dad roped me into a little bit of grass seed combining as our usual combine guy got his toe lopped off from diabetes. This is a good example as to why I had to move to Arizona to make music. When I’m within driving distance of the farm, I get many calls about helping out the farm. I usually oblige. I still love the farm, but both farming and music are beyond-full-time jobs, and they can’t really coexist.
Heading back down to AZ in mid-Sept. Here are the shows that are currently booked for September, but there are more to be booked as of this writing. Hope to see ya’ll out there!
· 9/1 – Corner 14 (Oregon City, OR)
· 9/4 – Oregon Gardens (Silverton, OR)
· 9/5 – Kopitos Cocina (Newberg, OR)
· 9/6 – The Schooner (Netarts, OR – on the Oregon Coast)
· 9/11 – Oregon Gardens (Silverton, OR)
· 9/13 – Chehalem Valley Brewing (Newberg, OR)
· 9/21 – Lazy G (Prescott, AZ)
· 9/26-28 – Whiskey Rose Ranch Festival (Flagstaff, AZ – FULL BAND!)
This is longer than my usual monthly newsletter will be moving forward, but I figured I would document The Honeymoon Tour and let you know where the hell we’ve been.
Stoked to see ya’ll soon.
