November 2026: "Guitars & John Deeres"
Hey y’all,
Here’s the Austin B. Sweeney newsletter coming in hot for the month of November. I put these out once a month to keep you updated on upcoming shows, what I’m listening to, general musings, lyric breakdowns, and much more! I hope this newsletter will provide value for you, if for no other reason than it may introduce you to music you haven’t heard before!
Let’s quit wasting time here and jump into it, here’s what I’ve been listening to in the last month:
Song: “WHY” – Jon Bellion (feat. Luke Combs)
Album: “The Lumineers” – The Lumineers
Artist: Goose
My new single, “Different Songs” is out! Click here to listen, and you can watch the music video here
If you’d like to support me monetarily, you can purchase the album – and any of my albums - here

Well, here we are.
When I sent out my newsletter last month, I was not a father, and now I am! I hope y’all have gotten to see the pictures that I sent in a special newsletter a couple days after William was born.
This will be a shorter newsletter than usual as I’m a little short on sleep and I’ve got a wife and son to tend to. However, the usual slate of gigs are still happening, so I hope to see y’all out there!
The lack of sleep was no surprise. Expecting it beforehand definitely helps with enduring it. The lack of sleep from when Laura started labor to when William was actually born was quite a stretch though. And it’s funny because once labor starts, no sleep really happens, and then you never get to actually catch up on that lost sleep because after labor, you’ve got a child you’re now getting up in the middle of the night to take care of.
However, I feel pretty good. It feels a little like farm hours, where you get sleep where you can and tough out the rest. I will also say that Laura is the rockstar in the family. She’s truly the one who has to get up with William to feed him. I’m just the support staff.
I try to get up with them every time that I can to help, but sometimes Laura tells me to go into the bedroom and get some real sleep.
I can’t say enough good things about my wife, she’s taken to motherhood so naturally and has all the right instincts. I’m just trying to keep up with her.
The first gig back after he was born was Thursday, October 8th, and he was born on Sunday, October 4th.
We had hoped for a little longer gap between his birth and gigs starting back up again, but, like a true Sweeney, my son was on “Sweeney Time” and arrived late. Classic.
That first gig was interesting because I was stretched so thin physically, emotionally, and spiritually from the labor/birth. Going to a gig that close to his birth meant that my heart was cracked wide open for that first show. It made for a tiring, but very special show. So, to everyone who came out to Aurora Colony Vineyards on October 8th, thanks for being there, and you got a special show that I’ll never be able to repeat.
So that’s it for this month. I’ll be back with a more typical newsletter next month, but I just want to thank everybody for the texts, calls, emails, and well-wishes over these last few weeks. Everybody who signed up for the meal train to feed Laura and me, thank you so much.
Laura and I went over to my grandpa’s house the other day so he could meet William. Then my parents showed up. I realized as I was sitting there, that we had 4 generations of Sweeney men in the room.
William’s name is William Brooks Sweeney. Mine is Austin Brooks Sweeney. My dad’s is Thomas Brooks Sweeney. My grandpa’s name is Samuel Brooks Sweeney.
It was a special moment to have that many generations of Sweeney men in the room. My grandpa said that William is going to have “a guitar in one hand and the wheel of a John Deere in the other.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
See y’all soon,
Austin
